Elephant paintings at GEWE

Currently a part of my elephant pictures at GEWE in Minden, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany is exhibited. My series of 10 red and green elephant, painted in oil on canvas from 2013, is displayed in the rooms of the parent company. The exhibition has been held since January and runs until the end of March 2014.

The atmosphere in Bretz Store inspires me. I was so busy painting that I completely forgot the chalk and charcoal. Now, it is good to sit down with the sketchbook and to discover.There are people inside and look around. I see it. I see how they move. I can see how they can take their body to measure the cushions.

This is the title of a project that I finish now. The start was last year. I placed 8 screens, 50 x 150 cm, and put me in the middle. The format impressed me. It is narrow and high. I sat there a long while, waiting for nothing. I left circling the carousel under my skull. Inspired by encounters, which occupied me, I began to paint. Each canvas for a body. All alone for themselves. Yet they belong together. They share the time and analogy.

I have not written anything since long time. In fact, I lost myself in a newly discovered world. The last works of yesterday I would like to propose as a conclusion. It pushes me now but very, finalize the past and new processes to present from now. This now is since 2, 3 recent years. The pictures dry, breathe life, and are in the final stages. After a long break I'll push them out the door. But they are considered different because the essence of it now is also different. Not better, not worse, just simply now. Other maturity, other force.
